As previously reported, Pepsi is pairing artists and filmmakers together for a visual album celebrating football during the World Cup.

Last month, Music Times reported that Janelle Monae lent her vocals for a cover of David Bowie's "Heroes" for the soda brand's campaign.

More details have emerged on the project and The Grio reports that Spike Lee, Timbaland, Idris Elba and Kelly Rowland are among those with work featured on the Pepsi-curated album.

The album is entitled Beats of the Beautiful Game, to be released June 10.

Pepsi announced Monday (May 12) that the album will be a collection of 11 anthem-like songs and short films.

"What I love about this is how creative it is," said Rowland, whose song "The Game" will have a video directed by Lee. "It's a project with a whole bunch of different artists being able to do different songs. I'm excited about being a part of something like this."

The aforementioned Janelle Monae track is the first single and will debut May 20.

The Grio also reports that the album will be released through Capitol Music Group's independent label, Caroline.

Pepsi's album is an attempt to compete with Coca-Cola, which is the main sponsor for the World Cup.

The visual album is also attempt to build its brand with major figures without mentioning the event, which occurs every four years.

"To be honest, it'll be a great marketing tool for Pepsi," Lee said. "There's no reason I'd try to deny that."

The World Cup starts next month in Brazil.
