Major League Soccer and, more specifically, Montreal Impact fans are rejoicing after reading a new Twitter post from star footballer Didier Drogba, denying retirement rumors that have been circulating this week. A report from a French publication L'Equipe alleged that the striker would leave the MLS and return to the Barclays Premier League as part of the Chelsea FC coaching staff. Considering he's a legend to Blues fans, excitement around the speculation erupted earlier this week. Drogba has denied the rumors, but left the situation pretty vague in his tweet.

As we previously reported, Chelsea FC is currently going through major changes after taking on interim manager Guus Hiddink after the sacking of Jose Mourinho. Chelsea are the defending champions of the EPL, but their current season has been one of the franchise's worst in years. Hiddink has admitted that landing Drogba as an assistant coach would be ideal for any team, but especially Chelsea (via The Daily Star).

Hiddink explained that Chelsea must respect Drogba's contract with Montreal, which was echoed by the player in his new tweet (via The Guardian):

Interestingly enough, Montreal Impact Communications Director Patrick Vallee spoke to ESPN FC, explaining that the report from L'Equipe was completely false.

"[Drogba] never called Joey [Saputo] to tell him, 'I'm going to announce my retirement.' The first sentence of that [L'Equipe] article, which is the most important, is not true," Vallee revealed. "Maybe Drogba is going to retire. That's an option for him. But right now, if he's doing it, he never said it to our president. He never announced it to Joey first."
