Last night, when Carrie Underwood congratulated Caleb Johnson for winning American Idol on her twitter, she probably never thought she would get attacked by fans who hadn't seen the show yet. But as fast as comments could hit the twitter-waves, her fans were sticking up for her. Comments like, "spoiler alert.... If you're not watching the show live odds are, other people are! Don't look if you don't wanna know!!" and "it's not really a spoiler when half the country already seen the show lol dumb ppl are dumb" came left and right.

As for Carrie, while she certainly didn't mean to "ruin" the outcome for anyone, she also didn't sit meekly by while people talked trash. An hour after the "spoiler" post, she wrote, "People hating on me 'cause I spoiled the ending of AI = dumdums who should stay off their twitter until after they watch the show... :)"

Live events air at different times in different parts of the country. It's been that way for as long as live events have been airing, so to be angry that someone online (twitter, facebook, news sites, etc.) says something about who won once they've seen the show is ridiculous. The news will be out there so if you don't want to know until the moment arrives on your TV screen, stay off of social media while you wait!
