Speaking to the press ahead of today's important match, PSV coach Phillip Cocu opened up about taking on Atletico and praised his opponents' manager, Diego Simeone, who is sure to make Cocu's job difficult today.
"Simeone is bringing success back to Atlético. You can see his character as a player reflected in his team - I applaud that," the coach said, according to UEFA.com. "They have a clear style of play. Would I settle for a 0-0 draw? Keeping a clean sheet could be very important. Atlético have a consistent side, they're a great team unit, they won't give anything away. They always play the same way - they are winners and they play a compact game despite a busy fixture list. They are a nice example of everybody playing for each other and for the team. You have to be prepared and give your all every time."
Simeone also praised the other side headed into today's game
"We are playing against a very offensive team with a great group work," the manager said, according to Goal.com. "They are good at set pieces, have players with good finishing skills and also a collective game. But we feel hopeful and strong to play the Champions League."
