Ariana Grande has joined the chorus of female voices that are speaking out for Kesha in the Dr. Luke case. In a new interview on 97.1 AMP Radio with Carson Daly, Grande spoke out in support of the pop star in her trying time.

“I love Kesha,” Grande said to Daly according to Billboard. “I worked with her when I was a lot younger. We’ve been friends, I support her regardless of what’s going on. I didn’t know about a lot of this. At the time I was really young. We didn’t discuss any of this.

“The incredible double standards that we (women) face on a daily basis, in the industry and just in the world, it’s shocking. I would be so amused -- and pardon me if this comes across as sexist -- but I don’t think a male artist would be in this position right now. Sorry… and my fellow women are definitely something that I will always be one of the first to speak up about.”

Grande was also featured in the interview with Carson Daly in support of her new album Dangerous Woman, which recently did a name switch from Moonlight. The album is slated to be 15 tracks long, although there is no confirmed release date. The first track, “Dangerous Woman,” was released this past Friday (March 11) and two new songs from the album were performed on Saturday Night Live last night (March 12).

Reportedly, Grande is also planning a world tour in support of Dangerous Woman.

Fans have been intrigued by Grande’s decision to switch the album name, to which she said that the idea of “dangerous woman” is all about portraying herself as a strong person, stronger than someone who would release an album entitled Moonlight.
