Singer Ashanti (Douglas) can now rest easy after a New York jury found Devar Hurd guily on 2nd degree stalking charges.

On Friday, March 18, a New York jury believed that it was time for him to stop harrassing the R&B songstress in this fashion, and to ensure that it won't continue, he was found guilty of 2nd degree stalking and is now awaiting sentencing, according to The Boombox.

The trial proceedings were pretty tiresome and at times, simply unbearable for the 30-year-old who had to endure being cross examined by the defendant himself, who chose to represent himself instead of hiring a lawyer.

According to TMZ Douglas faced her stalker in person that Wednesday, and had to relive the same measure discomfort she first felt when receiving the social media messages from Hurd, all over again as he read them aloud in court to the jury.

Hurd, 37, argued in his closing arguments that the messages he sent to the singer were not threatening or stalking, and insisted that if Douglas found fault with his messages, she could've simply just blocked him on Twitter.

The "Foolish" singer found herself in a frightening and uncomfortable situation after receiving many unwanted emails and rauncy messages via social media from Hurd.

Hurd is no stranger to jail time as it relates to stalking the R&B singer, and has been doing so for over a decade, as Pop Crush reported. According to the site, Hurd was in jail three years ago on similar charges and before that, he sent explicit photos of his genital area to the singer's mother.

The "Baby" singer seems to be thrilled that she can now put all of this behind her, sharing her excitement on Twitter at the conclusion of the trial. Douglas thanked God and her fans for all of their support.
