Experimental soul singer Cali Blake is preparing to release her new album, Cicadas in the Sun, via Radiosilence Records on April 27, 2016, but you can listen to handful or teaser amount of her new songs below. We have a stream right here, which will introduce you to one of the most exciting artists out there.

Cali Blake's music is a unique mix of soul, '90s lounge, pop, R&B, jazz and even some indie rock. The multi-instrumentalist somehow managed to put all of these pieces together for a 10-track collection of songs that music enthusiasts will surely eat up in 2016.

When listening to her songs, you get a sense that her influences are both modern and somewhat retro. You hear similarities with Lana Del Rey, Cat Power, Fiona Apple, and more. Cali Blake manages to also implement a sort of minimalist style as well, focusing on her vocals and only the important melodies.

Looking back into the artist's education, we found out that Cali taught herself piano and guitar by ear, and then moved on to the violin and harmonica. Her talents for these instruments and her vocal range are on full display on this forthcoming album.
