SBTRKT has been almost completely silent over the past 18 months when it comes to releasing new music. He has unveiled a few demos and loose old remixes, but there hasn't been anything in the ways of an official release from the UK producer, DJ and live performer. That all changed on Tuesday when he released his new collaboration with The-Dream "Good Morning." He has followed that up with another new song "I Feel The Pain" with D.R.A.M. & Mabel that was premiered yesterday by Annie Mac on BBC Radio 1 as the Hottest Record in the World.

The song is a slow, downtempo jam that focuses on the soulful vocals from both Mabel and D.R.A.M. who offer up a story about someone who used to be the queen of high school, but is now serving fried chicken at the local restaurant. Mabel plays the muse in the story, echoing "this hurts, this hurts" as SBTRKT's slow and synth heavy production underpins the whole track.

After the song premiere, SBTRK chats with Annie Mac about the song and more. He admits that he finds it easier to work with artists from the United States like D.R.A.M., Mabel and others in the past such as Raury.

This next time releasing music he wants to challenge the traditional three-year cycle of album, tour, hibernate, album, tour, hibernate. He says he is writing and challenging himself all of the time to create new music in the studio, so it makes sense to put songs out as singles. He likes to include them in his sets, so he wants to be able to just put them out on their own.

These new songs are the first since his 2014 LP Wonder Where We Land, which had features from the likes A$AP Ferg, Raury, Sampha and others.

There is no concrete release info yet, but listen to the radio premiere below.
