Summer has just begun for teens around the United States, so it's time for the Teen Choice Awards to kick into gear. Today (June 18), the first wave of Teen Choice Awards 2014 nominees were released. Among predictable nods for Pretty Little Liars and The Vampire Diaries, the nods for the nine main music-related categories were unveiled today.

Justin Timberlake and Taylor Swift thus far lead the musical nominees pack with two nods a piece -- Timberlake for Choice Male Artist and Choice R&B/Hip-Hop Artist and Swift for Choice Female Artist and Choice Female Country Artist.

Other nominees include familiar fare for the Teen Choice Awards, with Paramore getting a nod for Choice Rock Group (the "Ain't It Fun" band has won every time its been nominated since 2008), Miley Cyrus getting nominated for Choice Female Artist and One Direction being one of five picks for Choice Music Group (alongside its teen-friendly tour partners 5 Seconds Of Summer).
