Yesterday, rapper Curren$y (otherwise known as Spitta Andretti, real name Shante Scott Franklin) dropped a brand new mixtape, The Legend of Harvard Blue. The eight-song release is Spitta's sixth mixtape this year, including collaborations with The Alchemist, Sledgren and Purps. Listen below!

Harvard Blue takes it title from a character of the same name in the 1974 blaxploitation film Truck Turner. In the movie, directed by Jonathan Kaplan, revered soul singer and voice artist Isaac Hayes portrays the titular "Truck Turner" with actor Yaphet Kotto as "Harvard Blue."

Curren$y, often regarded as a "weed rapper," released his latest studio album, Canal Street Confidential, in December of last year. In a conversation with GQ magazine, the rapper spoke on his avoidance of writer's block by staying true to the activities he enjoys best:

"When you rapping about sh*t you not really doing, you get writer's block. I only rap about what I'm doing so I kind of been making the same song for f*cking four years. I rap about driving around in old Chevys, smoking weed, watching old movies, eating snacks, surfing the Internet. Downloading codes for video games. Ordering quesadillas. Sh*t like that. It's cool. Everybody respect it."

Mr. Spitta is also known for being a close friend to celebrated rapper and Amber Rose divorcé, Wiz Khalifa. As he told Entertainment Weekly, he was made godfather of Khalifa's son, Sebastian -- a responsibility he's aware may require his further counsel down the line:

"His interests are a bit different from mine. We talk about trucks. We've had conversations about trucks. We've had conversations about puppies. We can do that kind of thing. But I guess later on life, I'll be there to kind of give him pointers if he's having trouble with his girlfriend or something, or if he doesn't know what to buy his dad for a birthday or Christmas or something."
