The Magnettes Share Rebellious New Single 'Sad Girls Club' [Premiere]

Swedish pop trio, The Magnettes are throwing a party for everyone who feels like they are having a bad day or week and want to throw it right back at the world. "Sad Girls Club" is their way of fighting back at all of the things in the world trying to bring them down.

Co-vocalists Rebecka Digervall and Sanna Kalla lead the charge in the noisy and catchy hook, "we just want to cry because the world's so mean / we just want to die because they killed our dream / we just want to run, want to crash, want to burn / sad girls club"

While on the surface there appears to be a fun, the singers have a darker message to those making the sad girls club possible. "I'm a downer, not a dancer / please stop talking / go get cancer."

The trio spoke about the influence for the song.

"The Sad Girls Club is not something we invented," the band shares in a statement to Music Times. "It's a movement that we're part of. It's the idea of a sanctuary, for whatever reason, that treats you as the person you want to be. Where you're allowed to be sad, different or plain hostile. To counteract a world that tells you to smile when everything systematically sucks. This is our party and we'll cry if we want to."

Rebecka Digervall and Sanna Kalla met when they were six in their hometown of Pajala, Sweden. The pair had written a host of songs together by the tame they were 14. Their group really came into form when producer, keyboardist and guitarist Tomas Bäcklund Thuneström joined the fun.

"Sad Girls Club" will officially be released tomorrow, Jan. 20. But until then, stream it below first here on Music Times.
