Electronic artist and music producer Steven Zhu, or ZHU to his fans, is making new music with Australian psych-rock band Tame Impala.

This week, ZHU performed at a massive event hosted by Sony and Tencent to launch a new music label specializing on electronic dance music. The new record label is called Liquid State.

However, the biggest news of the night is the collaboration between two great artists. ZHU's debut album, Generationwhy, was released way back in 2016. Meanwhile, Tame Impala's most recent album, Currents, came out in 2015.

ZHU first teased his collaboration with Tame Impala last month. On Twitter, he simply posted: "TameImpalaxzhu???"

Billboard has already confirmed the collaboration from ZHU's camp. Tame Impala's representatives have not released a statement nor offered further details about the project.

Noiseporn reported a few weeks back that the music producer's performance at the FOMO Festival in Sydney included a track that features creative elements from ZHU's and Tame Impala's signature sounds which made everyone believe that they might have heard a sample of the collaboration. Watch the footage below.

Right now, details are scarce about the collaboration; it is not clear whether Tame Impala is currently working on a new album. However, the Australian band led by Kevin Parker has been busy in the past few months.

In 2017, Tame Impala released a deluxe treatment of Currents which featured three new B-side tracks titled "List of People (To Try and Forget About)," "Powerlines," and "Taxi's Here." Aside from that, the band has not released new music nor appeared onstage for a live performance in a while.

Parker and company's collaboration with Grammy-nominated artist SZA is also on its way. In an interview with The New York Times last month, the "Supermodel" singer revealed that she has already recorded three songs with Parker.

SZA already previewed the anticipated collaboration at the Governors Ball last year where she performed alongside Parker and Mark Ronson.

In his part, ZHU, last year, worked with Ekali for "Blame."

Tame Impala's Live Shows

While a new album has not been announced yet, Tame Impala already has a series of shows scheduled in the coming months.

This summer, the band is heading to Madrid, Spain to headline the Mad Cool Festival 2018. The music event will also feature English band Arctic Monkeys who, after a long hiatus, returns to the stage. Franz Ferdinand, Massive Attack, MGMT, Nine Inch Nails, Pearl Jam, Depeche Mode, Alice in Chains, and more will also perform.
