Akon makes two announcements for his fans. The singer said that he has plans to make a real-life Wakanda in Senegal, as well as own a cryptocurrency called AKoin.

Akion Cryptocurrency

The singer confirmed the news on Monday while at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. During his appearance, the "Smack That" singer explained how blockchain and cryptocurrency can impact Africa positively.

"It brings the power back to the people, and brings the security back into the currency system, and also allows people to utilize it in ways where they can advance themselves, and not allow the government to do those things that are keeping them down," said Akon.

The coin's website revealed that Akon received a 2,000-acre land that was gifted to him by Macky Sall, the president of Senegal. Under Akon's care, the city will be equipped with residential buildings, retails, parks, universities, and schools. Other details about Akon's work in Senegal and Akoin will be unveiled in the coming weeks.
