Aside from music sales, streaming revenues, and merchandise efforts, rappers rack up a fortune, especially big-shot hip-hop artists like Ye, Jay-Z, and the like.

With the list being announced recently, two years in the Coronavirus pandemic, it seemed like these rap moguls' pockets were not even a bit hurt, despite being a slow season for some, making it the wealthiest list yet.

Jay-Z at the top

The first of the ZOGBLOG list is the frequent topper Jay-Z who generated a whopping 470 million dollars just from last year.

A big chunk of his earnings from last year is from selling TIDAL, Hov's streaming company, to Twitter Co-Founder Jack Dorsey's Square for a staggering 297 million dollars.

This move eventually made the rapper a part of Square's Board of Directors.

On the other hand, TIDAL will still be running as an independent company but will have an arsenal of resources, including Square's software technology.

Hov also sold 50% of his stake in his Armand de Brignac champagne brand to LVMH, a luxury giant.

However, Forbes reported that, in return, earned only Jay-Z a cash payment of 300 million dollars.

"When we build luxury products, whether it be from Roc Nation to Monogram, we're building luxury products. Moët Hennessy goes about it the same way. We were aligned in our thoughts in integrity and passion for the things that we build," Jay-Z explained.

Forbes editor and "Hip Hop Cash Kings" creator Zack O' Malley compiled the list, noting that Hov will be paying "Uncle Sam more than any hip-hop act earned (other than Ye)."

The 2021 earnings bring Jay-Z's 2022 Net Worth to almost 1.5 billion dollars in total, settling him at the second spot, as Kanye beat him over a few hundred million.

Ye is the second-highest earner

2021 highest-paid rapper is still Hov with 478 million dollars; he beat out Kanye West, who only managed to earn 250 million dollars.

A big chunk of Ye's 2021 earnings came from his Yeezy footwear empire. His success can also be attributed to his Gap sellout and the success of his August 2021 banger album "DONDA."

Ye's 2022 is also off to a good start with "DONDA 2," racking up over 2 million dollars in sales in less than a week.

Greenburg reported that Jay-Z and Ye's annual income has increased "more than tenfold ten years ago."

Hov is No. 1 on the 2011 list with 37 million dollars, followed by this year's third highest-paying rapper Diddy, who came second in 2011 at 35 million dollars.
