KK, a popular Indian crooner, died at the age of 53 after collapsing at a hotel.

Indian news company NDTV reported that KK, whose real name was Krishnakumar Kunnath, collapsed at the hotel where he was staying. Billboard added that the singer arrived at the building after his performance at Kolkata's Nazrul Mancha auditorium.

Responders were still able to rush him to a nearby medical facility, Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI). However, he was later proclaimed dead.

Media outlets revealed that KK's cause of death was due to cardiac arrest - the health issue he felt after complaining of uneasiness upon arrival at the hotel.

It remains unknown whether he had been suffering from underlying health issues that led to his death.

Following the emergence of the news, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter and said, "Saddened by the untimely demise of noted singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK. His songs reflected a wide range of emotions as struck a chord with people of all age groups. We will always remember him through his songs. Condolences to his family and fans. Om Shanti."

An exclusive video of KK being taken back to the hotel has also since gone viral. The clip features the singer looking exhausted as his security assists him out of the venue.

According to the American Heart Association, cardiac arrest affects people even when they have never been diagnosed with heart disease. The health issue can happen suddenly or with symptoms, and it can be fatal if the appropriate medical procedure is not done.
