Fans of Lil Tjay have been given another optimistic update on his condition. A new viral video appears to show the rapper conscious in the hospital following his shooting in New Jersey last month.

DJ Akademiks released a video to Instagram on July 4 showing a native New Yorker speaking with friends or family via video chat from the hospital.  "Apparently this is a video of lil tjay in the hospital," the YouTuber captioned the clip.

Most of the individuals on the video are happy to watch Tjay improving, based on their reactions, although their faces cannot be seen.

According to Ace Showbiz, one woman can be heard yelling, "He good, he good," while another demands that the 21-year-old "speak something." Someone else comments, "Tjay is good."

Tjay, whose true name is Tione Jayden Merritt, was shot many times with Antoine Boyd, 22, at a nearby shopping center on June 22 during an attempted armed robbery.

Tjay had immediate surgery due to the incident.

On June 30, TMZ reported that Tjay is awake and conversing, per the outlet's sources. But since that time, there was no actual proof, which makes some fans doubtful. More so since prior to TMZ's report, it was already rumored that the rapper Lil Tjay is dead.

A suspect was nabbed on June 24, days after the rapper was shot.

Mohamed Konate, 27, was taken into custody by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office and the New York City Police Department, but he was also taken to a hospital for treatment of multiple gunshot wounds.

According to the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, Konate attempted to commit armed robbery against Merritt and two friends as they walked along Edgewater's The Promenade. Boyd was shot only once, whereas Merritt was shot many times.

Konate has been charged with three charges of attempted murder in the first degree, three counts of armed robbery in the first degree, and several weapons-related offenses. Boyd and Jeffery Valdez, who were with Merritt at the time of the event, were first charged with illegal possession of a firearm. Merritt has not been accused of any crimes.

Last year, Merritt published his second studio album, titled "Destined to Win." He was preparing to release his new EP, 'Strictly4MyFans,' in 2022 at the time of the tragedy.
