Fans were shocked and emotional as Joni Mitchell took the stage again after suffering from a health condition seven years ago. Her recent performance marks her full live show in over 20 years.

According to Hollywood Life, the singer performed at the finale of this year's Newport Folk Festival in Rhode Island.

The set was named "Brandi Carlile & Friends" as she performed along with other music legends Wynonna Judd, Marcus Mumford, Jess Wolf, Blake Mills, and many more.

Throughout the finale, the singer and her co-finale performers delivered a 13-song set that covered some of Mitchell's best songs throughout her decades-long catalog.

The recent performance is said to be the singer's first time performing at the renowned music festival since 1969 and her first full live public concert since 2002.

The set began with numerous performers singing her songs "Carey," "Help Me" "A Case of You" "Big Yellow Taxi," "Why Do Fools Fall In Love," "Just Like This Train," and many more.

Mitchell played the guitar throughout the set and occasionally sang her song.

In an interview with CBS Morning after the show, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Mitchell said she had never been nervous about performing in front of an audience.

"But I want it to be good. And I wasn't sure I could be. But I didn't sound too bad tonight!" she said.

Following her show, many fans took to Twitter to express their emotions.

"I've been waiting for this-hoping for it- for 7 long years. Watching her brought tears to my eyes," one fan wrote.

"Wow. Just wow. Flashback to my youth," another fan wrote.

In 2015, Mitchell suffered a brain aneurysm that almost silenced one of the most notable voices in the music industry.

"I've had to come back several times from things. And this last one was a real whopper. But, you know, I'm hobbling along, but I'm doing all right!" she said.

She revealed that she's learning how to walk again after suffering from Polio, but the brain aneurysm "took away a lot more" as it hindered her from speaking, singing, and walking.
