After announcing last year that he had been emailing Ed Sheeran about the possibilities of collaborating, Cradle Of Filth leader Dani Filth has now confirmed that their collaboration is in the works. While the death metal band has obviously been the one to approach the renowned singer, one can distinctively recall that Sheeran was the first to say he was a deah metal fan growing up.

The singer/statement songwriter's in an interview with The Sun newspaper revealed that he was "really into death metal as a kid."

He even specifically said that he is a huge fan of Cradle Of Filth. In the same interview, he revealed his interest in creating heavier music.

"I listened to Cradle of Filth and Slipknot and all that stuff" Sheeran said at the time. "I'm not saying I could ever step into that world [but] I learnt all those riffs on guitar as a kid. That's something I've never thought about doing - but something I would not be opposed to creating."

Then, during an interview with Kerrang! Radio, Filth disclosed that he had been in communication with Sheeran and that the two had made plans to meet. The leader also pondered the possibility of collaborating with the world-renowned musician, remarking that despite their improbable musical compatibility, it would be "wonderful" to do so, especially if the resulting song was released to benefit a charity.

Filth told Kerrang! Radio that Sheeran seems like a very nice person.

Now, in an interview with Knotfest, the Slipknot-owned music event and media outlet, the leader of Cradle Of Filth has confirmed that he did indeed hang out with Sheeran and that a song is in the works.

"We still have yet to finish our song with Ed Sheeran" he explains. "He's done some of it, but then he had a baby, and then he got obviously sidetracked with that and doing whatever Ed does, which is play massive shows around the globe. He's not at our beck and call. But he is gonna finish it, he assures me."

"[It will be released] when it is complete. We do not know when it will be released," he concluded.

It had previously been proven that Ed Sheeran can perform rock songs. Ed Sheeran's thrilling performance during the Bring Me The Horizon concert is stunning fans. On Saturday, the 31-year-old singer-songwriter surprised Reading Festival attendees when he joined the headlining rock band to play their remix of Ed's smash single Bad Habits.

Earlier this year, the Perfect singer invited Bring Me The Horizon to join him onstage at the Brit Awards, and the band returned the favor by bringing out the singer.

Ed's unexpected arrival came after days of rumors that he might perform at Reading Festival during the long weekend. Ed was surrounded by fans when he arrived at the Warsaw airport on Saturday morning following a performance in the Polish city.

The singer has been incredibly busy despite being a very involved father and husband. Ed Sheeran was observed shooting a new music video.

The Grammy-winning singer was spotted filming sequences for a forthcoming project on the streets of London alongside American rappers Papoose and Big Narstie and a film crew. The artists did not disclose a great deal about their new song, but we cannot wait to hear more.

It follows Ed's announcement on social media that he will be attending the SBTV Mega Cookup event this week in honor of his late close friend and SBTV founder Jamal Edward's birthday. Jamal expired in February.
