Buddy Holly's chilling photo months before his tragic death seemingly proved that he knew about his impending death.

On Wednesday, Holly's fans remembered him and celebrated his life on what would have been his 86th birthday. The singer-songwriter was not able to reach the age, as he tragically died in the Iowa plane crash near Clear Lake when he was just 22.

With the recent remembrance of his life and career, a photo of him seemingly captured the moment he predicted his death.

Photographer Lew Allen spoke to Express UK exclusively, recalling the events leading to Holly's death. He disclosed that the singer arranged a tour alongside Frankie Avalon, the Everly Brothers, and Bobby Dari. They traveled together on two buses.

One of the photos at that time captured Holly's depressed looks as he was already missing his wife, Maria Elena. They got married on Aug. 15, 1958.

"They hated traveling on that bus. That's why the pictures of Buddy Holly on the bus are so iconic because he hated that bus ride, you could see it in his eyes," Allen said. "He was calling her constantly on the phone... He was a happy guy, he just missed his wife."

The chilling photo captured a year before his death showed Holly looking sad as he got off the bus.

Fans who saw the snap said it was strange since Holly was holding an airline bag despite traveling in a bus.

Unfortunately, he died and left his beautiful music to keep his legacy burning.

Holly still made history after his death, as he became one of the first artists to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986. He was also named the 13th Greatest Artist of all time by Rolling Stone.

Buddy Holly's Death

Holly ultimately succumbed alongside two American music legends, Ritchie Valens and J.P. Richardson, on Feb. 3, 1959.

They died after their plane crashed in Clear Lake, Iowa, while having their Winter Dance Party Tour. Tommy Allsup and Valens tried to decide who would get a seat on the plane by flipping a coin, but the latter won.

Meanwhile, bassist Waylon Jennings allowed Richardson to take his plane seat as he thought he would be uncomfortable on the bus due to his size.

Pilot Roger Peterson was not certified to fly by instruments only but still took the plane off despite the bad weather. This caused the plane to crash, leaving no survivors.
