The early 2000s are back in full swing.

Well, maybe we can skip that little moment we had where we all thought that wearing jeans underneath a dress was a good look...but other than that, the essence and sound of the first moments of the millennia are back.

After twenty years, it is understandable that the sound and style of many of our fan favorite stars has transformed. It can often be difficult to remember where they started. We often find ourselves forgetting that the majority of our top-ranked performers of today actually got their start with very different sounds in the land before iPhones.

The return to the ever iconic Y2K vibe has us feeling nostalgic, and we want to take you along with us. Here are the first ever released songs of your favorite female artists of today.

1. Beyonce - Work it Out

Queen Bey herself released her first ever solo single Work it Out back in 2002. The beautifully melodic R&B sound captured the hearts and ears of many. We are glad to know that, as we sit here in the year 2022, Beyonce certainly did Work it Out as she continues to be a chart topper to this day.

2. Taylor Swift - Tim McGraw

Taylor Swift has been breaking goals left and right with the release of her new album of instant-classic caliber, Midnights. Swift is a star that has actively changed and celebrated her brand in plain sight. She recently announced The Eras Tour as a culmination of this celebration. The star has come a long way from her first ever released song Tim McGraw. The sweet song with its undeniably country sound was released in 2006.

3. Rihanna - Pon de Replay

Rihanna has had an incredibly exciting year (and an exciting year yet to come.) She recently released her first song in six years, Lift Me Up, is set to play the Super Bowl, and had a baby (which is not music news, but we are still excited!) It is easy to forget that the performer's illustrious career began with the release of the iconic song Pon de Replay back in 2005.

4. Avril Lavigne - Complicated

The Princess of Punk-Pop is back with a vengence. Avril Lavigne was an iconic staple of the early 2000s sound, and now the star is one of the many leading the charge back to a time of pop-punk jams. For the 20 year anniversary of her debut album, she released a re-recorded version. The star continues to celebrate her past while creating new music, and we are HERE for it. Her incredible career began with the release of her edgy but heartfelt song Complicated back in 2002.

5. Britney Spears - ...One More Time

Britney Spears will forever remain the true Princess of Pop. Within the last year, the star was finally freed from her conservatorship. Already she has been creating new music. She has been nominated for an award alongside Elton John for their collaborative piece Hold Me Closer. The star's iconic musical career began with a song we still listen to time and time again: ...One More Time. Given the continued popularity of the number, it is incredible to think that this song was released in 1998. (Ok, 1998 isn't the early 2000s, but if Britney isn't on this list, what are we doing here?)

6. Paramore - Pressure

Paramore has launched back on to the music scene. Alongside Avril Lavigne, this iconic band is bringin the world back to the well-loved years of pop punk. Fans have been thrilled to hear news of a new Paramore era on the horizon. The band recently headlined the ACL Music Festival, and they have many other exciting tour dates to come. The song that set the band on their ever upward trajectory was Pressure which was released back in 2005.

Time to go bring ourselves back to the start of it all and spend our day listening to these songs on repeat!
