Things are getting more intense between Journey bandmates, Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain.

Cain recently responded to Schon's lawsuit that targets him, in which the original Journey member accused him of setting up the American Express card of the band without informing him. Schon added that Cain used the card where millions of the band's funds flowed through.

In his tirade shared by Ultimate Classic Rock and Culture, Cain said the Journey guitarist was the one who charged the card for his "enormous" personal use.

"This is a matter that should have been resolved privately, but I am forced to publicly respond now to Neal's malicious lies and personal attacks on my family and I in an effort to garner public support for his ill-conceived lawsuit - a lawsuit that has absolutely no merit," he said.

The 72-year-old keyboardist added that Schon always had access to the credit card statements. With that, he believes that he only filed the lawsuit to increase the card's limit.

After his bandmate decided to discuss the matter publicly, Cain assured he and his team would provide evidence that Schon is the one at fault. He then accused him of entering a legal battle after efforts were made to control the use of the card.

His lawyers have since released a separate statement, revealing that the probe they conducted found out about Schon's personal financial problems that caused him to spend recklessly using the card.

The preliminary probe revealed that he used more than $1 million in improper personal expenses using Journey's American Express card.

The two parties will be part of the scheduled preliminary hearing on March 3.

What Neal Schon Claimed

The other side of the story, which was publicized by Schon, claimed that Cain created the American Express card without telling him.

The information shared by Page Six disclosed that the guitarist's attorneys filed the lawsuit in Contra Costa in the Bay area of California. They alleged that Cain has not given them the financial records of his expenses to determine how much Journey owes him.

The papers insisted that Schon has the right to access and control Nomota's books and records so he can manage everything in the band.

Far from what Cain claimed, Schon said his bandmate told him he would have an access to the card but never had the chance to be part of it. He reportedly found out about the card only after American Express informed him about it.
