Alan Jackson is a well-known name in country music. In fact, he has been awarded the CMAs lifetime achievement award just recently, and is now considered by many a living legend in the genre, but what is next for the singer?

Jackson has been trending on social media for several reasons these past few weeks, some put the singer in a more favorable light than others.

The innovative singer, who blended the traditional honky-tonk sound with mainstream country, was recently honored with the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award a the 56th Annual Country Music Association Awards, and it does seem like he has finally hit legendary status with this achievement.

With 26 studio albums under his belt, Jackson is one of the best selling country singers, with his career spanning decades.

During his acceptance speech at the CMAs, he said, "Country music has been real good to me and I fell in love with it when I was a young man."

The singer's genuine love for music made him the successful musician he is today: "I really love the instruments, the steel guitars and the fiddles and things like that that gave it such a unique character to me and made it its own. And I love the lyrics and the songs and the artists and the melodies and the harmonies."

Throughout his decades-long career, Jackson reportedly amassed a net worth of $150 million.

Despite seeming like he has no intentions of stopping anytime soon, the singer is facing a very serious health issue that may just send him into retirement.

Health Status

According to reports, Jackson has a degenerative illness called Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease.

He inherited the genetic disease from his father, and it is affecting his nervous system.

While the singer's condition is not life-threatening, it may still drastically change his lifestyle in the future, and so far, it has actually begun.

Country Now reported that Jackson was forced to postpone several shows of his "Last Call: One More for the Road" tour due to health concerns.

Although he has been living with the disease for years, it was not until September last year that he announced it to the public, "[...] It's been affecting me for years. And it's getting more and more obvious."

Although Jackson has had some difficulty in performing due to CMT, he still pushes through the complications and was adamant in not referring to his recent tour as a farewell tour, because he is far from retirement.
