Doja Cat broke down emotionally after her headlining performance at Primavera Sound in Barcelona was canceled on Thursday (June 4, 2026), as severe weather forced organizers to shut down parts of the festival for safety reasons.
Massive Attack was also set to headline that night, but both performances were called off after strong winds and heavy rain made it unsafe to continue. Festival organizers said the weather included gusts reaching up to 80 km per hour, which triggered safety protocols and forced the temporary evacuation of some areas.
Other acts, including Alex G, Mac DeMarco, and Bad Gyal, also had their sets canceled as conditions worsened. Some smaller stages briefly continued once the storm eased, but the main stages remained shut.
According to Rolling Stone, Doja Cat later shared her emotions with fans, saying she had been ready to perform but understood the danger.
"Barcelona i am fully dressed and ready to go to stage but it's just not safe enough to continue the show tonight," she wrote on X. "I'm so sorry that this is how this s–t has to be right now. I will think of everything I can under the sun to make it up to you."

Doja Cat Tearful After Primavera Weather Shutdown
Later, in an Instagram livestream, Doja Cat appeared in her stage outfit with tears in her eyes as she spoke directly to fans. She explained that the weather got worse than expected and said no one could fully predict how dangerous it would become.
"I really wanted to see you guys tonight," she said. "I do love you, and I'm absolutely crushed and torn to pieces about the whole thing."
Massive Attack also reacted to the cancellation in a statement, saying they were "devastated" after previous disappointments and that safety had to come first, Billboard reported. They added that artists were frustrated because they could not directly speak to fans during the sudden shutdown.
Primavera Sound organizers confirmed that no serious injuries were reported and said refunds would be given to ticket holders. They also explained that emergency weather alerts were active before the decision was made to stop the show.
Despite the setback, the festival continued its schedule on Friday with improved weather conditions, featuring major acts like The Cure and others.
