Fans are excited for Miley Cyrus as she started her 2023 by entering a new era of music, but many of them are also investigating her recent single as they believed that it was about her ex-husband, Liam Hemsworth.

According to Billboard, the couple divorced in 2019 and was finalized the following January and her recent single wasn't the first time the Disney alum referenced her previous relationship in her music as it was apparent in her songs "Midnight Sky" and "Slide Away."

However, the outlet noted that her most recent release, titled "Flowers," is a different take on the path of her love life as the song mainly revolved around loving one's self.

Cyrus has been dropping hints that the lead single of her upcoming album "Endless Summer Vacation" may be about Hemsworth and fans continue to investigate online.

The first clue was the official release date of her song, which was on January 13. Many supporters believe that it was intentional because it falls on the same day as the actor's 33rd birthday.

"Miley's telling the world she can love herself better ON LIAM'S BIRTHDAY?! she definitely didn't lie when she said she's got nerve," one fan pointed out.

In addition, many fans also noted that the music video was filmed at Frank Sinatra's house, the same property where Hemsworth allegedly cheated on her.

"she releases a song about her cheating ex husband on his birthday, shot the video in the house he cheated on her with 14 different women," one wrote.

Billboard reported that the song may have also referenced the Woolsey fire that happened in 2018 because of the lyrics, "We were right till we weren't/ Built a home and watched it burn."

The outlet noted Cyrus seemingly mentioned the tragedy that happened years ago where the former couple's home in Malibu was destroyed in a fire incident.

The musician previously explained that it was one of the reasons why she married the Australian actor, saying in an interview, "losing the house changed us much more than getting married changed us."

Lastly, the song was reportedly connected to Bruno Mars as it referenced the hit song "When I Was Your Man" by mirroring its lyrics.

There are unconfirmed fan theories making rounds online that Hemsworth previously dedicated the song when they broke off their first engagement almost a decade ago.

As of this writing, Miley Cyrus has not publicly confirmed whether "Flowers" was about her ex-husband. On the other hand, Liam Hemsworth has not reacted to the matter.
