Rapper Nelly has spoken out on the tragic death of Michael Brown and the unrest in Ferguson. The St. Louis native has also set up a scholarship fund in his honor.

Billboard reports Nelly has vowed to keep Brown's dreams and aspirations alive by helping another deserving youth in his honor.

"I've been in contact with the family of Mike Brown, we started a Mike Brown Scholarship Fund in order to send kids to college because Mike did graduate from high school," he said.

Nelly went on to say, "And even though we all make mistakes, he did have positive things that he wanted to do. And I think it's important that we expand on what he wanted to do in a positive nature and send, not just kids from his area, but kids from all over who have that mentality onto a better place so we can change the outcome."

This past weekend following a charity flag football game in Los Angeles, the "Dilemma" rapper returned to the field calling for action from the crowd asking everyone to put their hands in the air and say "Don't Shoot."

"If anybody can sympathize with what my city is going through, it's this city of L.A. right now on so many levels," said Nelly, while wearing a #MikeBrown tank top. "So for that respect alone, I'm asking you, I'm begging you, and I'm pleading for you to just raise your hands for a second."

It has been reported by TMZ that Nelly, T.I.Kevin Hart and NBA player Al Jefferson have pledged $15,000 a year in college tuition to teens chosen by Michael Brown's family.

Brown was scheduled to start college just a few days after his killing.
