Dove Cameron started out in the industry as a star in Disney Channel and her breakthrough in the world of music just began recently. However, her smash hit "Boyfriend" was almost not released to the public despite it being her biggest project to date; what happened?

The musician claimed the song was only a song that her record label urged her to do.

Dove Cameron Thinks 'Boyfriend' is 'Bad'

Explaining what happened, the singer said she just wrapped up a small black box theater tour where she met fans and traveled to different venues to "figure out what it means to perform live."

After ending the series of concerts, Cameron said her label told her to immediately start working on a new album the following day so she got into a recording studio where her team wrote the track in under two hours and thought of it as "bad."

The pop sensation only recorded the song in 20 minutes and they "put it away" afterwards.
