Rumors about Ariana Grande being the frontrunner for the casting of "Hercules'" Megara came about on Twitter/X earlier this week.

Since the news came about, fans have been talking about the apparent casting decision non-stop, with some even pointing out that there were other viable options for Megara - Liz Gillies, Grande's best friend.

Ariana Grande as 'Hercules' Megara

According to Daniel RPK, an industry insider, Ariana Grande was currently being eyed to play Megara on the upcoming live-action adaptation of "Hercules" on Disney.

Taron Egerton was also mentioned as a frontrunner for Hercules, while Danny DeVito, who was also a popular fan cast as Phil, was also rumored to be reprising his role on the live action film. Some fans agreed with this apparent casting choice, which is still a rumor.

"ariana grande as megara absolutely," a fan shared.

"I'd be ok with Ariana - I know she's a fan of the animated classic," someone echoed.

"PERFECT CAST. Ariana has the looks & the voice," another supported. However, not everyone seemed to agree with the said choice.

Elizabeth Gillies as 'Hercules' Megara

The other glaring suggestion among Twitter/X, the role should be given to Elizabeth Gillies. Many know Gillies as the feisty and scary best friend of Ariana Grande in "Victorious," but she later on became Fallon Carrington in "Dynasty."

Gillies certainly have the musical chops like Ariana Grande, as showcased prominently on "Victorious" and her other musical projects.

"i'm sorry but liz gillies was literally born to play Megara," a fan posted.

"I'm gonna need everyone to stop sleeping on Liz Gillies. She's got the face, the attitude, she'll wear the hell out of a gown, AND she could sing circles around anybody else that walks into that Meg audition room. I'll die on this hill," another commented.

"sorry how are you gonna cast somebody from victorious as meg and not have it be liz gillies," another pointed out.

Well, as of this writing, these are just mere rumors and suggestions. Actually, nothing is set in stone yet when will it be released and who will direct the film, but the rumors and unconfirmed reports for the live-action adaptation have been floating around for quite a while already.

With the ongoing writers and actors strike, it seemed very unlikely that a casting decision will be announced soon.
