Unbeknownst to many, 21 Savage was actually born in the United Kingdom, specifically in Plaistow, London, in England. However, he was raised in Atlanta, Georgia at the age of seven when her mother relocated to the United States.

In 2019, 21 Savage was arrested by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement of the United States ICE due to an expired visa. Now, the celebrated rapper has finally patched things up.

21 Savage Immigration Issues

Born She'yaa Bin Abraham-Josep, 21 Savage was unable to travel outside of the United States for quite some time. This was because in 2019, ICE arrested and detained the Grammy-winning rapper for being "unlawfully present" in the country because his visa expired last 2006.

"U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested unlawfully present United Kingdom national Sha Yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph AKA '21 Savage' during a targeted operation with federal and local law enforcement partners early Sunday in metro Atlanta," ICE spokesman Brian Cox said in a statement at the time. "Mr. Abraham-Joseph was taken into ICE custody as he is unlawfully present in the U.S. and also a convicted felon."

According to a statement, 21 Savage's lawyer Charles Kuck revealed that the case had been closed.

"She'yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph followed all applicable Immigration laws since his initial detention by ICE. His immigration court proceedings have now been terminated and he is a lawful permanent resident of the United States with the freedom to travel internationally," Kuck shared in a statement, as quoted by People Magazine.

Notably, 21 Savage encountered problems entering Canada earlier this year when he was scheduled to perform at the Scotiabank Arena with Drake for the "It's All A Blur Tour."

Drake even rapped about 21 Savage's green card moment in his new song "8am in Charlotte" in his poorly-reviewed album, "For All The Dogs."

"Savage got a green card straight out of the consulate," he rapped in the song. "Where I Go, you go, brother, we Yugoslavian."
