Fabio Luisi Named Principal Conductor of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra in 2017, Following Zurich and Met Operas Jobs

Fabio Luisi will be quite busy in the coming years. Music director of the Zurich Opera and principal conductor of the Metropolitan Opera, now Luisi will be named principal conductor of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra.

The 55-year-old conductor signed a three-year contract with the DNSO from 2017 through 2020, reports the New York Times. He plans on setting up appearances with the orchestra before that time, as well.

Luisi is well-known to New York audiences for finding a spot with the Met on extremely short notice. In 2011, Fabio assumed the various duties of the Met's music director, James Levine, who was benched after an injury.

Levine returned to the Met last season and is scheduled to conduct six operas this season.
