It's that time of the year again when the Billboard Hot 100 hits are filled with yuletide hits and Christmas songs.

For the first time ever, Brenda Lee topped the charts with "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree," 65 years since it was released.

Brenda Lee's "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree" dethroned Mariah Carey's longest-running perennial hit "All I Want For Christmas Is You" at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

This week, the song amassed 34.9 million streams, earning Lee's first Streaming Charts topper. Over to the radio, it was raked in 20.7 million airplay audience impressions and sold over 3,000 copies.

Before this week, "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" had only reached No. 2 on the charts. The song is tied for the most weeks at No. 2 before rising to the top, tied with "Bad Guy" by Billie Eilish who ruled in 2019.

Surprisingly, "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" is only the third Christmas song to ever top the charts, following "The Chipmunk Song" by Alvin and The Chipmunks released in 1958. Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" in 1994 was the second, and now, Lee's "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree."

In a statement, Brenda Lee shared her excitement after learning the amazing news.

"This is amazing! I cannot believe that 'Rockin' [Around The Christmas Tree]' has hit number one, 65 years after it was released. This is just so special!" the 78-year-old songstress said. "Thank you to the team at UMG/UMe who worked so hard to celebrate the song's anniversary this year, but most importantly, thank you to the fans who keep listening. The song came out when I was a young teenager and now to know that it has resonated with multiple generations and continues to resonate - it is one of the best gifts I have ever received. Keep on Rockin' and Merry Christmas!"
