Instead of laying down and dying Netflix put on their collective thinking caps and realized that they would need to offer up something unique to reel consumers back in. They tested out some original programming and quickly realized that they were on to something. Series' like House of Cards proved that if Netflix offered quality original programs then people would invest in it. Given that fact it makes perfect sense that Adam Sandler would sign on for an exclusive four-movie deal.

    Thomas Duncan, the man who has been diagnosed with the first case of Ebola in the U.S., signed off on airport paperwork claiming to have had no contact with any one infected, in spite of living with a pregnant woman who ultimately died of the disease. That oversight is what allowed him to travel to the U.S. and officials intend to charge him with a federal crime because of it.

That is how it used to be, but fast forward to the Winter Games for 2022, and instead of countries fighting for the honor, they are withdrawing their bids. Only Beijing and Almaty, Kazakhstan, are interested are interested despite many who think the International Olympic Committee is corrupt.

    It looks like Teresa and Joe Giudice of The Real Housewives of New Jersey fame really played the system for everything that they could get out of it right up to the very end. The couple found themselves in a Newark court this morning in front of U.S. District Court Judge Ester Salas for a sentencing phase that dragged on for the entire work day. Salas made it clear from the start that she was none too happy with the Bravolebrities as she first sentenced Joe to 41 months in federal prison and two years of supervised release. Teresa has been sentenced to 15 months in prison on federal fraud charges and is actually expected to serve her sentence first because Joe will likely be deported immediately after serving his sentence. By Teresa going to jail first it means that the couple's four children will have a parent to raise them at home.

Virginia State Police seem to have a bunch of puzzle pieces in front of them from various cases — some of which are sexual assaults — and they seem to all be interconnecting with Matthew.

    In December 2013, Michael Muhney was abruptly fired from the CBS daytime soap opera The Young and the Restless amid allegations of sexual harassment. The actor was allegedly fired by showrunner Jill Farren Phelps because of his unprofessional behavior toward Hunter King, a younger costar. Fans were in an uproar while cast members publicly weighed in on the scandal as it literally reached tabloid proportions. A few months ago, Y&R was recasting the role Muhney had vacated and he came extremely close to working out a deal with the brass to return, something that would have thrilled his mountain of fans.

    Jason Derulo's split from Jordin Sparks came as a shock to fans last week and this week has just been ripe with speculation on what really went down to end things. However in an interview yesterday on NY's Power 105 Derulo admitted that he dumped Sparks in a phone call, rather than face-to-face.

    It seems like every couple of months there's an incident involving Charlie Sheen that reminds everyone that he is still a little bit- off. Apparently the most recent bit of crazy behavior occurred last Thursday and it is leaving the actor under investigation for assault with a deadly weapon, among other things. It all went down at Sheen's dentist's office, which he visited for an abscess. When a technician attempted to put a mask over Sheen's face to give him nitrous oxide he reportedly flipped out, flailing and swinging- making direct contact with the poor tech.

    Criticism over streaming music services like Spotify is really nothing new. A multitude of artists have come forward to complain about the royalties that are paid out for services such as these. Ed Sheeran is one artist that believes streaming services ultimately have helped him to do that thing that he loves most- play live.

One thing that is definitely true though is the fact that these two are rarely together. First they learned that the nighttime sudser has been renewed for a third season and then it's leading lady, Alyssa Milano confirmed that she will not be returning to the show. Milano's character, Savi Davis is kind of the centerpiece to the show and the actress made it very clear that she isn't leaving by choice.
  • The New York Times is Eliminating 100 Newsroom Jobs, Killing NYT Opinion App Due to Low Subscribers

    "The New York Times" announced on Tuesday (September 30) that it intends to cut out about 100 newsroom positions and a few more positions from its business and editorial staffs. The company will be offering buyouts initially but made it clear that if enough staffers don't leave voluntarily then there will be layoffs in the near future. Arthur Sulzberger Jr., the newspapers publisher, also said that NYT Opinion, an app devoted to opinionated content will also cease operations because there aren't enough subscribers.

    Taylor Swift has kind of been everywhere recently promoting her upcoming album 1989 and doing all of the mandatory press that goes along with it. She is gracing the cover of British Vogue and in the issue's cover story Swift tackles the obligatory discussion about dating. She claims to be looking at her life realistically right now and seeing that a guy just doesn't fit into the picture at this point. Being likable has nothing to do with it. The fact that Swift brings a lot of baggage (and paparazzi) with her right now is less than fair to any decent guy so she claims to not even be looking for love.
