Before The World sold 97,000 copies...far from Taylor's best but plenty enough to take the top spot.

    Boston-native James Taylor gave Red Sox fans quite the treat yesterday for his hometown team's game against the New York Yankees at Fenway Park. The iconic singer also threw out the ceremonial first pitch and sang that traditional "America the Beautiful" during the seventh-inning stretch.

    Fifty years ago on this date Marvin Gaye entered the charts with "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)". We hesitate to call it his most recognizable song—because he's had an unusual number of tracks that have become cultural standards compared to most in his era—but "I wanna stop and thank ya baby" is an instantly recognizable line. Enough so that a number of performers have tried their hands at the song over the last five decades.
