It's hard to be a guitarist without a guitar, and that's why The Strokes are asking fans to help track down Nick Valensi's instrument. On Monday night (Jan. 5), the "Is This It?" rockers made a call out on its official website and Instagram after Valensi's Epiphone guitar was lost in transit from New York to Los Angeles.

According to the band, Valensi's guitar was en route from NYC to L.A. but never made the full trip. Asking for "extra eyes and ears," The Strokes asked fans to look out on Ebay and pawn shops for the natural (orange-ish) Epiphone guitar.

The band also detailed what makes the guitar unique, including mother-of-pearl inlays on the neck and a removed pick guard. The post also noted that the black Calzone case that held the guitar was also missing and featured a crack in it fixed with gaffer tape. The Strokes also emphasized that Valensi is "bummed" that the guitar has gone missing.

Valensi may be in need of the guitar soon, too. The Strokes are currently in the studio working on their sixth studio album. The band was last spotted recording in Mexico while taking some time out before their set at the Live Out Monterrey Festival.

The Strokes' last album, Comedown Machine, was released in 2013.
