Stream ‘Parallel Lines,’ New Summer-Ready A-Trak Collaboration with Phantogram [LISTEN]

Fool's Gold label lead Alain Macklovitch, best known as A-Trak, has been on a collaborative streak lately, working with Jamie Lidell on "We All Fall Down," Disclosure on a "Magnets" rework, and Rick Rubin on Star Wars Headspace. Now, the Canadian producer and DJ has joined forces with NYC synth-pop duo Phantogram on the summer-ready fist pump-inspiring new track titled "Parallel Lines."

While A-Trak has become something of a collaboration king lately, "Parallel Lines" marks Phantogram's first feature on a dance track. On first listen, the poppy tune is surely a summer anthem-to-be. Stream it below.

"Parallel Lines" premiered on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 radio show as the World Record of May 3, This Song Is Sick reports. To mark the occasion, Macklovitch dialed-in for an on-air interview with Lowe during which he revealed his plans to release more one-offs in the near future, as well as an EP later this year; however, the producer doesn't have plans for a full-length album yet in the works.

About the new track, Macklovitch told Lowe: "It was cool working with this song, because the vocal is so beautiful that it just gave me that elbow room to go and do something a little different with the production, while still keeping the musicality," Thump reports.

After dropping the new track, the producer took to social media to continue his contemplation of the benefits of collaborating and refusing to be restricted by genre. He posted on Facebook: "I was just thinking, my favorite thing about electronic music in 2016 is that it doesn't fit into any confines. It doesn't need a 4-on-the-floor beat or a supersaw synth."

The producer continued: "I made a song with an alternative band, scratched the guitar and made it something you can dance to. That's the freedom we have as DJs."

A-Trak has a number of tour dates coming up, including his usual stops on the summer EDM festival circuit. Check out that list on his website.
