The “NCIS: Los Angeles” Season 9 premiere on October 1 will launch the storyline of a nuclear threat from North Korea. This dangerous mission may even force the still grieving Sam (LL Cool J) to return to work even if he isn’t quite yet ready.

Own Granger’s (Miguel Ferrer) replacement as the team’s executive assistant will also be introduced in the first episode of “NCIS: Los Angeles” Season 9. She is Shay Mosely (Nia Long), a former Secret Service agent. She is said to be a woman who knows what she wants and there are speculations that the other team members will take a while to bet used to her.

Spoilers say that Mosely will create some problems for Kensi (Daniela Ruah) and Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen). The new boss has a much more rigid thinking about romance in the workplace. Hetty (Henrietta Lange) has been very tolerant of the couple’s relationship and in the first episode, will actually work on bringing back Deeks to the LAPD according to SpoilersGuide.

Meanwhile, work will be the farthest thing on Sam’s mind in “NCIS: Los Angeles” Season 9 according to LL Cool J. He has lost his drive to live his life after losing his wife Michelle (Aunjanue Ellis) but the team want him to return as soon as possible. "They're trying to figure out how they're going to work Sam back into things because he's really reluctant, so we gotta see how that's gonna unfold," the actor told Extra.

In “NCIS: Los Angeles” Season 9, Sam’s storyline will mostly be about his journey to accepting what happened and his attempt to rise above the pain. But, he may also choose to quit his job permanently to have a fresh start. It will be up to Callen (Chris O’Donnell) and Hetty (Linda Hunt) to try to make him realize that he is not alone in what he’s going through.
