‘Terminator’ Franchise Welcomes Back Linda Hamilton For ‘Judgment Day’ Sequel

Director James Cameron plans to bring back the "Terminator" franchise back to its glory days.  With the return of Linda Hamilton along with Arnold Schwarzenegger to the series, this upcoming sequel will aim to close the story the proper way.

Hamilton's return to the "Terminator" series was announced at a private screening of "Terminator 2: Judgment Day."  According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cameron, who takes the role of producer for the film, wants to make a statement about gender roles in action films. With the emergence of 50 and 60-year old men leading movies, the "Avatar" director hopes to use Hamilton's return as Sarah Conner as an example that same-aged women can take off baddies as well.

Aside from the reunion of Schwarzenegger, Hamilton and Cameron, who have not worked together on the "Terminator" series since 1991's "Judgment Day," the upcoming "Terminator" film includes several big names to make it a good movie. "Deadpool" director Tim Miller will be helming the project as director, while Justin Rhodes, David Goyer, Josh Friedman and Charles Eglee will be working with Cameron on the movie's script.

Meanwhile, Schwarzenegger will be back as the titular T-800 Terminator in the upcoming "Terminator" film, ignoring the last three movies in the "Terminator" franchise. Slowly getting back to his Hollywood stride after missing several years, Screen Rant reported that the former governor will be filming another sequel. This time, he will be joined by Danny DeVito in "Triplets," a continuation to the 1998 comedy "Twins."

Linda Hamilton played as Sarah Conner in the first two "Terminator" movies. Originally the target of Schwarzenegger's time-traveling T-800, the once-timid young lady grew into a gun-toting warrior who does anything to protect her son, John Conner.

While no specific date has been given, the upcoming "Terminator" film is slated for a 2019 release.
