Peetah Morgan, the lead singer of the reggae band Morgan Heritage, has died. He was 46.

The Morgan family confirmed Peetah's death in a statement on social media, with the Associated Press also disclosing the saddening news in its report.

The musician, born Peter Anthony Morgan, notably scored a Grammy with his family group in 2016.

Morgan's bereaved loved ones expressed their heartbreak following the loss on Sunday, February 25.

"Jah come and save us from ourselves because love is the only way," the family continued, "Our family thanks you in advance for your overwhelming love and support, and we ask for your continued prayers as we go through this process. We also ask that you please respect our privacy during this time of healing. Thank you! The Morgan Family"

They did not disclose Morgan's cause of death, but his passing left his whole country and fans heartbroken.

Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness took to X to express his heavy heart over the news, noting that Morgan's death was a "colossal loss" for Jamaica and reggae music.

"My heart is heavy to learn of the passing of Peetah Morgan of the world renowned Morgan Heritage," he posted. "I send my deep condolences to the Morgan family as they grieve this tremendous loss which is also a colossal loss for Jamaica and for Reggae Music."

Social media users also issued separate tributes to honor Morgan's career and legacy.

Reggae Sumfest wrote, "R.I.P. to a musical legend of our time #PeetahMorgan Our deepest condolences to the entire Morgan Heritage family. Blessings and Praises to his name. He will be missed, but will forever live on in our hearts."

"Nothing to smile about by Peetah Morgan won the hearts of many. Rest in peace Peter Morgan," another said.

A third shared, "One of the greatest hits ever by the Morgan Heritage Family. Today, we celebrate the life of a lead singer Peter Morgan. Such a huge blow to the reggae family. Rasta is love, humanity and not dreadlocks. Rest In Peace Peetah Morgan."

Morgan and his siblings formed Morgan Heritage and marked their debut in 1994 with the album, "Miracle."

The group continuously released materials in the years thereafter, including "Strictly Roots," which won the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album in 2016.
