The star of a planned film about the late AC/DC vocalist Bon Scott has been cast.

Bon Scott Film Main Cast Announced

The film, which is currently being called "The Kid From Harvest Road," will star Lee Tiger Halley as the well-known vocalist.

The actor most recently acted in "Boy Swallows World," a limited series on Netflix.

Additionally, he had appearances in a number of Australian TV shows, such as The Heights and Crazy Fun Park. The biopic's tale will be directed by Stephen Belowsky.

Meanwhile, for the scriptwriter, who has lived in Fremantle, Australia, along with Halley and Scott, it's a passion project.

"I was truly inspired by [Scott's] charismatic character, but what interested me most was his early life, not the caricature we all know on stage. The teen who walked the streets of Fremantle," Belowsky explained. "This is a love letter to Fremantle and Bon reimagined through the eyes of the author."

The biography "promises to be a poignant portrayal of the man behind the legend," according to Halo Films, the production firm behind the film. Scott's "journey from a cherished yet troubled youth to a prodigious artist" will be covered in the movie. With a target release date of early 2025, the film is currently in the early stages of development.

After Dave Evans left the band in 1974, Scott became AC/DC's second singer. Scott, who was regarded as a formidable vocalist and performer, led the band to unprecedented heights.

The band's first seven albums featured vocals by the explosive rocker, including their releases exclusive to Australia. Highway to Hell (1979), the album that ultimately propelled AC/DC into the American music scene, was his final release.

Sadly, Scott passed away on February 19, 1980, when he was 33 years old. The group made the decision to move forward with Brian Johnson as their new lead singer. Five months after Scott's passing, the wildly popular album Back in Black was released.

Producers Clarify This is NOT a Biopic

The producers of "The Kid From Harvest Road" have issued the following statement in response to the media coverage, some of which falsely described the movie as a "biopic."

"The producers behind 'The Kid From Harvest Road' are incredibly humbled and grateful for the overwhelming media attention the recent announcement of the film's development has garnered. The enthusiasm and support from audiences and media outlets alike reaffirm the belief in the power of storytelling. However, they are at pains to express that 'The Kid From Harvest Road' is a project that aims to capture the essence of Bon Scott's early life in Fremantle in a fictionalised narrative set in the 1960s," the statement reads.

"By drawing inspiration from the stories and atmosphere of the time period, rather than attempting a biopic, the film can offer a more imaginative exploration of Scott's character and experiences. Focusing on his formative years in Fremantle allows for a deeper dive into the influences and events that shaped him as a person and ultimately as the iconic frontman of AC/DC."

"It also provides an opportunity to explore the cultural landscape of the time, including the burgeoning music scene and social dynamics of the era. Through careful storytelling and attention to detail, 'The Kid From Harvest Road' can offer viewers a reimagined glimpse into the life of a young Bon Scott, while also capturing the spirit of the times in which he lived. It's an approach that allows for creative interpretation while still honouring the essence of Scott's journey," the statement ended.
