Motley Crue and Guns N' Roses are two of the most popular hard rock bands in music history. Both greatly impacted the music scene and inspired countless people with their songs. Recently, Nikki Sixx revealed that the bands almost went on tour together, but things didn't work out.

Sixx took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to answer some fan questions, and one user asked if the two bands would tour together next year. The musician revealed it almost happened.

"We tried. It just didn't work out for now. Would be a great tour. You never know," he explained without further sharing details. (via Loudwire)

Motley Crue, Guns N' Roses Rose to Fame in the Same Era

It's only fitting that the two acts go on tour together, since they both rose to fame out of Los Angeles and hit international audiences only years apart.

Motley Crue was founded in 1981, and its popularity skyrocketed, making it one of the most recognizable bands of its time, especially after the release of Theatre of Pain in 1985.

Motley Crue, Guns N' Roses Had Issues in the Past

The relationships between the two bands at times has been strained. Far Out noted that the trouble began at the 1989 MTV Music Awards when Motley Crue was presented the Best Group and Best Metal Video to Guns N' Roses for the song "Sweet Child O' Mine."

The band members left after presenting the trophy, but Vince Neil opted to stay and waited for Guns N' Roses member Izzy Stradlin.

Neil then decided to sucker-punch Stradlin backstage after his band's performance. Axl Rose became involved as he threatened to kill Neil after attacking his bandmate, but no charges were pressed by either party.
