Dan Lilker, one of the founding members of Anthrax, is making a big comeback this year. He will join his bandmates on select tour dates for their 2024 tour; check out the details below.

According to Loudwire, Lilker will return to the group after four decades and reunite with his good pals in April as a replacement for Frank Bello, who won't be present at their concerts because of personal reasons.

In addition to appearing at some of Anthrax's shows in South America, he will join his bandmates at two festivals in the United States in May.

"We're all very excited about with playing with Danny again, and we really appreciate his filling in for Frank... It's been way too long since we played South America, so you don't want to miss these shows, they're going to be insane," the band said in a statement.

On the other hand, Lilker expressed his excitement, saying he's looking forward to jamming with his group, and he joked that members of the band told him to "stick around" because they might need him in 40 years back when he left in 1984.

Dan Lilker Had No Choice But to Leave Anthrax in 1984

Dan Lilker was a big part of Anthrax's conception, as he and Ian Scott founded the group in 1981.

Ultimate Guitar reported that after the group released their album Fistful of Metal, Lilker got fired from the band, and he had no choice but to abide.

"I was asked to leave and had no choice. Let's just say that Neil and I had different definitions of what professional meant," he said.

He further explained that at the time, he made sure that the songs they were making were good and rehearsed well, but all of them clashed with Neil Turbin, who later left the group months after Lilker's departure.

When the band realized that they "threw the wrong guy out," it was too late.
