Last year, the Pet Shop Boys and Drake found themselves in a brief feud after the rapper used the band's song in his track without permission. However, the present tells a different story as the duo recently disclosed that all is harmonious between the them.

The British synth-pop group recently spoke with Rolling Stone to reflect on the drama that transpired between them and Drake as they made headlines last year for calling out the rapper on social media after using their song "West End Girls" on his 2023 track "All the Parties" without asking them properly.

Vocalist Neil Tennant recalled that he found out about the sample from his brother, and his initial thought was that the permission might have slipped them as they often receive a lot of requests.

Upon confirmation from the group's manager that the Canadian rapper had indeed not sought permission, the Pet Shop Boys expressed their disappointment publicly.

The Pet Shop Boys Call Out Drake on Social Media

Taking to their official X account, the duo shared the official album art of Drake's "For All The Dogs," and in the caption, they told their followers that the rapper never credited or even asked permission.

"Surprising to hear @Drake singing the chorus of "West End girls" in the track "All the Parties" on his new album. No credit given or permission requested," they wrote.

Tennant further explained that they aired their frustration on X to bring the issue public and get everyone's attention.

Fifteen minutes later, Drake's team reached out to the duo, and Tennant recounted that they were "very apologetic." He mentioned that the rapper expressed a desire to speak with them and provide his perspective, although it never materialized.

Nevertheless, everything was ultimately resolved, and no lingering issues remained. As for Tennant's feelings toward the song, he told the outlet that he quite enjoys it.

On the other hand, co-member Chris Lowe said, "I would like to know how Drake gets that vocal sound because I would quite like to hear you singing like that."

Tennant then noted that both wanted to know Drake's "trick" when he sang the song.

In other updates about the Pet Shop Boys, the duo announced new tour dates for their series of concerts in the United Kingdom this year billed as Dreamworld: The Greatest Hits Live tour.

More details about the complete tour dates and tickets are available on their official website.
