MGMT got top billing on last night's Letterman and went at it with all the dedication of...well, a band of hipsters from a New England private liberal arts college. The "who wants to be here least?" vibe that permeated their performance of new album MGMT's lead single "Your Life Is A Lie" ruffled quite a few feathers on Twitter.

Nailed it. RT @coslive: MGMT appeared on Letterman last night and wasted everybody's time https://t.co/MKhC8ERxVd

MGMT must've been so tripped out that they forgot to play the other two minutes of that song. #MGMT #Letterman

Watching mgmt on Letterman reminds me of why I left their show at firefly early, they're awful live (and kind of awful in general)

To be fair, "Your Life Is A Lie" is not a good song. It's a novelty track that makes zero sense without the accompanying video and maybe the performance was equally affected by the difficult translation to a live rendition as it was by the "no fcks given" performance.

"Lie" is a B-side at best and is either a poor choice of single or a bad omen for the rest of MGMT.

But, if we're being honest, that massive cowbell was great.

What do you think of MGMT's performance?
