On Adele's 26th birthday, the "Skyfall" singer shared some exciting news for her legions of fans on Twitter: she would be seeing "25" again later this year, leading many to speculate that her third studio album would drop sometime in 2014. Over five months have passed since May 4, and there's still no news about Adele's new album, and that's because it won't be released anytime soon.

According to a new financial report from Adele's record label, XL Recordings, fans should not anticipate a new record in the next three months. The news about a pushback for Adele's new album comes from The New York Times, who obtained XL Recording's financial report which mentioned the lack of a release from its best-selling artist.

"There will not be a further new release by Adele during 2014 and consequently there will be a fall in XL's turnover and profits," the report said.

This news was a major blow to investors in XL, who made a $15 million net profit in 2013. Fans are also disappointed, having to wait until 2015 at the earliest for new Adele music.

Adele's last album 21 shattered sales records, topping the Billboard 200 in the U.S. for a whopping 19 weeks. 21 was also the best worldwide selling album in both 2012 and 2013. So, a lack of a new release from Adele could be damaging for the company, whose other clients include Vampire Weekend, Jack White and FKA Twigs.
