It wasn't exactly Paul Simon playing alongside Ladysmith Black Mambazo, but it was still pretty damn good! Maybe even better actually? Over the weekend, Dave Matthews Band frontman Dave Matthews stopped by New York City's Carnegie Hall to fill in for the famed singer.

Leading Ladysmith Black Mambazo on a version of their classic Graceland tune, "Diamonds On The Soles Of Her Shows" – which they recorded with Simon – Matthews delivered a beautiful powerful performance (which is normal for him) alongside the choral group.

Check out the performance of "Diamonds" below:

As mentioned, Matthews filled in for Paul Simon, who for some reason pulled out of the event, according to JamBase. The performance was all in tune with Carnegie Hall's UBUNTU festival, a month-long event that celebrates the music as well as the arts of South Africa. Matthews fill-in was perhaps the perfect fit, considering he is in fact from South Africa.

During their performance, the band treated the audience to a rendition of DMB's "Cry Freedom," which was recorded. Give a listen to that below!

Dave Matthews just wrapped up his 2014 tour with the Dave Matthews Band. For more info on them, check out their site.
