Selena Gomez is back releasing new music. Today (Nov. 6), she released the revelatory new song "The Heart Wants What It Wants" and the lyrics clearly harken to her on-again, off-again relationship with Justin Beiber. In a new interview with Ryan Seacrest, the "Come & Get It" singer is opening up about the inspiration behind the song, and her current relationship with her ex-boyfriend.

In a shockingly candid chat with Seacrest, Gomez admitted that "The Heart Wants What It Wants" is obviously about Bieber, and admitted that "girls need to hear this song." "Music is an expression, and for me to be able to, if you will, be that voice for these girls. There are so many people that feel this. It's universal. It's a heart," she said.

Gomez, who had a rocky year with a cancelled tour and relationship drama, admitted that her search for herself took up a majority of 2014 and that it's not easy to be judged when discovering yourself.

"I think the biggest problem that I had this year, even with him on his side is identity. I'm 21 this year I turned 22. I'm trying to figure out what I'm doing," she said. "It was the first time when I was constantly kicked down for doing that," she said.

Gomez not only opened up about her new single and her life but she also spoke about her relationship with Bieber, who has seen the emotional "The Heart Wants What It Wants" music video.

"I think in a lot of ways, I'm just at peace now. I think there's a struggle with figuring out is it right, is it wrong. I don't know what the future holds, and that's exactly what I say in the song," she said, though she admitted that she'll always care about Bieber and have a special connection with him, regardless of if they are dating.

"I support him. I think I always will. I'm upset when he's upset; I'm happy when he's happy," she said. "I don't want anything ever to happen to him bad. It hurts me."

Gomez's new song "The Heart Wants What It Wants" is out now and is from her forthcoming best-of album, For You.
