It's almost as if Jimmy Fallon and The Roots were a little bit excited that U2 had to cancel their weeklong Tonight Show residency.

Bono's recent cycling accident meant Fallon and his house band could do their best U2 impression, and they killed it Monday night with "Desire."

"As I mentioned before, U2 is not here this week," Fallon told his audience. "Bono hurt his arm in a cycling accident yesterday. He's doing fine. He's in the hospital recovering and we wish him all the best. But the show must go on."

Fallon did a full-on Bono, with glasses to boot.

After Bono's cycling mishap last week, U2 released the following statement on their website:

"It looks like we will have to do our 'Tonight Show' residency another time - we're one man down. Bono has injured his arm in a cycling spill in Central Park and requires some surgery to repair it. We're sure he'll make a full recovery soon, so we'll be back! Much thanks to Jimmy Fallon and everyone at the show for their understanding."

As previously reported, the band was scheduled to perform this week, from Monday, Nov. 17, to Friday, Nov. 21.

From our own Ryan Middleton: This is the second weird accident to happen to Bono in a week. A few days ago, a door to his private jet blew off mid-flight while traveling to Berlin to join his bandmates at the Bambi Awards, the German equivalent of the Emmys. The singer and other passengers lost luggage, though thankfully no one was hurt.

The big question is: Now what? Do we get four more days of "U2," or will different covers be coming our way?

This could be a Neil Young kind of night:
