It looks like the rumors surrounding singers Selena Gomez and Austin Mahone dating are all thanks to some friendly nudges from Taylor Swift. Gomez and Swift are close friends and insiders are claiming the ex-girlfriend of One Direction's Harry Styles wants the best for her buddy and feels that 17-year-old "What About Love" singer is just that. What's kind of weird about the 19-year-old possibly dating Mahone is that the young singer has been described as "the second coming of Justin Bieber," which is obviously Gomez's ex-boyfriend. Gomez has apparently denied dating the young singer after the two were spotted hanging out at Disneyland together, but that doesn't mean Taylor has given up on playing cupid.
"It was (Taylor's) idea to push Austin and Selena together because she really likes Austin and thinks he would be a good distraction for Selena right now. She did the same with Ed (Sheeran) and Selena, but so far Selena is keeping it strictly friends with both of them," an insider explained. Both Mahone and Sheeran have opened for Taylor's "Red" Tour recently, so it looks like a pattern might be forming. Swift's openers get set up with her friends, apparently!
"But Taylor is going to keep trying, she loves hooking up her friends and especially Selena, because she wants to see her with anyone but Justin (Bieber)! Selena has a bad habit of taking Justin back again and again so even though she swears it's over for good I'm sure Taylor's a little worried that she'll cave in again," the source added.
Ever since splitting with Bieber, Gomez has been spending a lot of time with her bestie Taylor. Around the same time Gomez was spotted at Disneyland with Mahone, Taylor posted a Vine video welcoming summer with some ice cream. Check it out here:
