Adele may be performing a slew of dates in the United States next year, but that doesn't mean the British vocalist will be going on tour. According to rumors given to The Sun in London, the "Rolling in The Deep" songstress is fielding offers from several Las Vegas casinos with offers to perform a residency. There's no word on how many shows the gig would entail, but the payment is said to be in the $40 million range. Elton John has been advising Adele in support of the deal, the source added.

"Stacks of Las Vegas casinos are desperate to get Adele on billboards as a headliner in this town," the source told the paper. "The highest figure being touted is $40 million but it could be even higher. Elton's been a really good friend to her and they've been Skypeing to share parental advice. 'But he is a businessman too, and has been telling Adele Vegas residency could secure a really good future for her family."

The dollar value of the performances, if true, ain't messing around. For a comparison, Britney Spears will be getting a $15 million paycheck for he upcoming residency in Vegas. Spears hasn't exactly become a D-list star, but she's nowhere near in Adele's league at the moment: The 25 y.o. has won nine Grammys since 2009, and added an Oscar this year.

Speaking of lucrative possibilities for the songstress, Adele is also rumored to be in the running for the part of Dusty Springfield in the biopic of the '60s soul vocalist, best known for her hit "Son of A Preacher Man" from Dusty in Memphis

Adele wouldn't be selling out at all by doing a Vegas residency. Although many look poorly upon the last year's of Elvis Presley's life, the opportunity has been embraced by many stars aside from Spears recently. Elton John and Mötley Crüe are just two of the acts that have taken advantage of the situation in recent years.
