Rick Ross has taken a turn remixing Lorde's smash hit "Royals." The rapper adds more bass and a few verses to the track. Interestingly, Ross raps about the very hip-hop, consumer culture that Lorde is tackling in the song.

He sings about "new fur rugs," "Rolls Royces" and counting his money or "dead presidents" in the attic of his mansion. Either he is trying to be ironic or he really didn't listen to the song before remixing it. She mentions Maybach by name in her song, for crying out loud (granted it was probably about the car not his label).

We wonder if Lorde will have something to say about it. Despite the clear disconnect, Ross's appearance shows just how pop sensible "Royals" has become.

The song has topped the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks running and has sold 2.5 million downloads, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
