Thomas Rhett is just 24, but he's already fulfilling the now-common Nashville fate of songwriter-turned-star. He's penned tunes for the likes of Blake Shelton ("Honeybee"), Justin Moore ("Point at You"), Chris Young ("I Can Take It From There") and several others, and now he's a full-fledged touring artist.

He recently discussed the difference between writing and the road in a sit-down with The Boot.

"When you write, you get to actually stay in town for more than two days, so I would say that's the upside," he said. "But, you know, I wouldn't trade going on the road for anything. I've got such a great team behind me that's very, very good at booking us on awesome dates and getting us on some awesome tours."

No matter what happens moving forward, Rhett said songwriting is his truest passion, and something he plans to do for the rest of his career.

"Writing songs has always been my first and foremost love, and, you know, whether I continue to have success as an artist or not, I will always write songs," he said. "It doesn't matter how busy my schedule gets, I will always make time to write songs."

He goes on to explain why that is:

"When you write a hit song, and you know it when it's done, it's one of the best feelings in the world," he said. "So I'm just really blessed and pumped to have success in both realms, and I hope that that continues."

Rhett dropped his debut, It Goes Like This, last year. The album has already charted five singles, including country No. 1s "It Goes Like This" and "Get Me Some of That."
